MLP:FiM OC: Almond Stem

I redrew another old OC. He's a bat pony and I cannot for the LIFE OF ME draw bat wings! jdhjudushdhua! >:C
OMG. FINALLY FOUND TABLET TO ADD NAME WOO! O3O

So basically. I changed him from a hideous color pallet to this one, which is very similar. I also softened the colors to sorta halloween-ish colors kinda. just not as harsh. Like, I changed a bright orange to a more golden color and his mane from black and blue to a more...navy? Or whatever-ish blue. And the eyes from a harsh red to a more magenta-ey red color. I kept the hooves similar to the coat, changing them to match the new coat. Not sure if I really like it though. :/ But I love love LOVE the little fluff! O3O

I'll probably take the hoovsies off and change them about a bit before finalizing them. x.x


Name:
Almond Stem. Named that because their parents couldn't decide on two named, so they combined them and Almond Stem was the result. Sometimes called Leafy by close friends/family as a nickname.

Gender Fluid
[Prefers They/Their/Them and such but doesn't mind he/she either.]

Talent:
Botanist? You know, Good with plants and such?
He/she can make many helpful potions and such much like Zecora, just not as well as s/he learned from lots of practice more than it being a talent.
Their talent consist more of being better at growing and keeping them alive longer and making plants more 'potent' or stronger then they normally might be. They're also good at telling the general time that's purrfect for harvesting the plants.
Note: I believe it's incredibly possible for ponies to be talented at more than one thing but only one should be the special talent. Their other skills should come from hard work and dedication.

Personality:

They're a very kind, gentle pony with a heart of gold. Never in their life would they dream of being mean to anyone. They've never said a mean word to anyone since childhood. However, They're also a bit of a pushover and too naive and trusting for their own good a lot of the time. That being said, They are also rather reckless and fearless at the same time. Often jumping head first into situations without stopping to think things through first. This is what got them blinded in the first place...
Continuing, They have a love of exotic creatures and raises bats of all sorts and sizes in their home. Their two favorites, and the first two s/he ever tamed, are named Violet [Purple one] and Apple Crisp [Red one].
His/her favorite things in the world are his bats, his home/plants, and his books.

In his/her spare time, They like to write fantasy stories and has written a couple about plants and tips and tricks to raising them right as well as another about different kinds of bats, spend time in nature and tending to his lush gardens and greenhouse, Being with others. Yes, despite having a home away from other ponies, s/he often visits neighboring towns/cities to meet with friends or family and just have a good time. S/He's quite social. When s/he's out, their two bats help guide him over areas they don't know well. Combined with his/her heightened senses, they can manage just fine on their own most of the time, but aren't afraid to ask for help if they really need it. They despise when others think they can't manage because they're blind but try to be understanding because it's almost always someone just wanting to help.

---Became blind in an accident with some spooked bats that weren't tame thinking he was trying to hurt them.
----Eventually got better after a major depression slump from being blind and discovered he did still love his bat friends
-----his bat companions worked with him to help him 'see' basically and get around on his own.
------Eventually left home and took over his grandparents rehabilitation center, raising and releasing animals or finding homes for those who can't be re-released while having his own...plantery...or whatever it's called.

History:
Was written before name was decided. Leafy is a filler name.

S/he was born to two Bat Pony parents who were both part of Princess Luna's royal guard. Because his parents were both rather busy, his older brother and him were foalsat by their grandparents who ran a Wildlife Rehabilitation center. This is where the siblings got their interests in another sort of family business. Leafy, yeah, Leafy for now. Leafy was most interested in the bats most, and even helped tame the ones he now owns. He thought of them almost like ponies, not animals once wild with wild instincts. One day though, Leafy was visiting the inclosure with the bats, and was doing well feeding them by themselves and yada yada having a great time with his two favorites while the rain poured outside. His grandparents called her/him inside due to the storm and they were unsure of how the bats would react to such a fierce storm that was on it's way. Leafy didn't listen though and snuck back outside when their grandparents were distracted and the storm was just rain and wind. For a while, it was good. Everything was going great.
Suddenly, there was a few loud claps of thunder which spooked the bats. Unfortunately, there were quite a few in their enclosure and somehow, in their panic, they thought it was him attacking them. So they attacked in return. His eyes didn't make it.

For months after, Leafy felt hatred for the creatures he once loved. S/He refused to visit his grandparents anymore and was angry all the time, lashing out at his friends and family; eventually driving them away. His/her parents saw what was going on, and almost lost their jobs with how many days they missed to be with their child. Slowly, with the help a therapist, they got her/him some help. It took a while, but eventually s/he felt better and after a few months, s/he went back to visit his/herbat friends. Eventually, s/he figured out how they could help him and since then, s/he takes his bat friends almost everywhere. Finishing his studies, one day s/he took over the rehabilitation clinic from his grandparents. His/her parents, knowing s/he could never become a royal guard member, encouraged this and focused on trying to convince their other child.

Family:
S/He has one brother who lives quite a long ways away.

Pets:
Apple Crisp, Violet, as well as many other random bats/exotic creatures they help rehabilitate and put back in their natural habitat.
